Camp Fire Victims
For our 2018 Holiday Collection, we raised $700 in profits and donated to the victims of the Camp Fire in Paradise, California. We decided to donate to individuals through GoFundMe rather than a large organization, to ensure that our donation would go directly to those in need.
We donated to a family of four trying to rebuild their lives, a retired firefighter that lost everything, and an elderly couple battling illnesses during this natural disaster.

Books for Mlima Shabaha Primary School
We worked with the organization Lalafofofo to donate 100% of our profits towards education related projects in Tanzania.
In the Spring/Summer 2019, we raised money to fund books for children from a small village in Tanzania, Africa. In their school, there are limited supplies, with only one book per classroom. Most people make $1 or less a day in that village, and education can help them break out of their cycle of poverty.

We raised $1226 from our collection, allowing us to finish supplying books for Grades 3-7 from the Mlima Shabaha Primary School for each of their subjects! 250+ brand new books!

New Desks for Mlima Shabaha
For our 2019 fall/winter collection, we partnered with Lalafofofo to supply desks for the students at the Mlima Shabaha Primary School. Materials like these are important for focus and success in the classroom.
We eventually donated $1000 to buy 22 desks for the Kindergarten and Grade 1 classes at Mlima Shabaha that didn't have desks previously. The desks were made by a local Tanzanian carpenter and have been implemented in the classrooms. Each desks seats 3 students and provides a workspace for them.

Masks for COVID-19 Crisis
We are currently using our sewing skills and leftover fabric/elastic to sew masks for those in need. We have made 450+ cloth masks thus far for neighbors, nursing homes, essential workers, and hospitals! We are working with Peninsula Mask Makers to continue to provide masks for our community.
We have also made masks for Carlmont High School teachers, and summer school students. We provided 25 masks for teachers with the help of Carlmont Key Club and volunteers. For summer school, we provided 144 masks, with help from some student volunteers.
We are continuing to sell masks and use the profits to sew masks for Carlmont families in need. Any leftover profits will be donated to buy books for the Boys and Girls Club Little Free Libraries Program. We have purchased 19 books so far.

Summer Scrunchie Collection for Black Girls Code
In Summer 2020, all profits of our scrunchie collection were donated to Black Girls Code, a nonprofit that hosts computer science and technology programs for African American girls from the ages 7-17. We donated $250 to help empower black girls from across the country through education and inspire them to become leaders in STEM.
Tie Dye Tote Bags for Girls Scholarships
Currently selling handmade, one of a kind tie dye canvas bags to continue raising funds for Lalafofofo's Girls Scholarship Program
Each bag will help empower Maasai girls through education. These scholarships help them rise out of poverty and avoid child marriage. Proceeds will go towards school fees, supplies, & food/clothing/shelter for the girls. Our 2021 scrunchie profits will also go towards the girls scholarship program. |
Picture Books for Local Title I Schools
From our Farmers Market Sales in 2022, we bought 20 picture books to donate right in time for back to school.
These books were donated to a local Title 1 elementary school, where at least 40% of students are low-income & living below the poverty line. The stories have diverse protagonists to reflect the student population. |
